Recently, the 10th section of the G15 highway Jiajin section renovation and expansion project, which was constructed by Shanghai Chengtou Highway Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. and implemented by China Communications Third Navigation Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., successfully completed the first upper structure "beam replacement and widening" operation. With the efficient removal of the first hollow beam slab of the West Elevated Bridge and the precise installation of the new beam slab, the project has officially entered the upper structure construction stage, marking the construction of the West Widening Section entering the fast lane of "new old alternation and rapid progress".

As an important component of the G15 Shenhai Expressway, the Jiajin section of the G15 highway is the core of Shanghai's "One Ring, Thirteen Shots, One Vertical, One Horizontal, and Multiple Connections" highway network. It plays an important transportation role in connecting urban areas in western Shanghai and supporting regional industrial development.

The total length of the 10th project is about 1.68 kilometers, covering multiple key projects such as bridges, roads, and drainage. Among them, the upper structure of the western widening section adopts the "beam replacement and widening" process, which means that while the existing old beams and slabs are removed and replaced with new ones, new beams are simultaneously installed on the newly constructed lower structure to achieve lane widening. The project construction faces multiple challenges such as discontinuous working surfaces, aging existing structures, and ensuring the normal operation of existing highways. The construction safety risks are high and the installation accuracy is strictly controlled.

The first hollow slab beams to be dismantled and installed are 18 meters long and 1 meter wide, weighing approximately 35 tons, and will be dismantled and lifted using a 350 ton crawler crane. To ensure the smooth implementation of the first piece of construction, the project team conducted a comprehensive investigation and retesting of the original elevated bridge structure before construction, and carried out multiple rounds of scheme comparison and tabletop deduction for the complex environment on site. When demolishing the old beam, the project team compacted the responsible party, strictly controlled the demolition equipment, strictly followed the construction sequence, and held the safety red line with precision. In the installation stage of the new beam, we adhere to the core requirements of "precise positioning, standardized operation, and strict quality control", monitor the beam posture in real time, adjust the beam axis and elevation, and ensure the accurate and efficient installation of the new beam.

With the successful implementation of "beam replacement and widening" for the first upper structure of the western section, the project team will carefully summarize the experience of the first construction, optimize the construction process, strengthen quality control, continue to strictly control safety, quality, and progress, and strive to achieve the annual construction goal, contributing to the early completion of the renovation and expansion of the Jiajin section of G15 highway and enhancing the traffic capacity of western Shanghai.
