The project is located in the southern part of Sumatra Island, Indonesia, on the west side of the Bangka Strait. The project is divided into two engineering packages for implementation. The main construction content of Package 1 includes the expansion of the dock platform by 250 meters x 70 meters and 128 meters x 20 meters, as well as the first stage reconstruction of the 420 meter approach bridge repair, with a planned construction period of 17 months. The main construction content of Package 2 is the construction of a new 2.7-kilometer approach bridge, with a planned construction period of 21 months.
During the construction process, the project team faced unfavorable conditions such as frequent wind and waves during the monsoon season from May to October in Indonesia, and limited effective operation time. The project department plans and organizes in advance, flexibly utilizes weather windows, and ensures safe and efficient operations. At the same time, the prefabrication yard scientifically allocates ship and machine resources to ensure seamless connection between component transportation and installation, providing strong support for uninterrupted on-site construction. Faced with the challenges of complex marine environment, large component volume, and high requirements for lifting accuracy, the project department adopted a coordinated lifting scheme of using a 180 foot barge carrying a 265 ton crawler crane and a 250 foot barge carrying an 800 ton belt crane to optimize process connection and complete installation tasks with high quality. The entire process strictly implements safety and quality control, achieving "zero accidents and zero rework".
The smooth implementation of this node marks a phased victory in the construction of the main structure of the dock. Next, the project department will accelerate the installation of tracks, pouring of surface layers, and construction of ancillary facilities, continue to maintain efficient collaboration and excellence, ensure the high-quality completion of various nodes, and deliver high-quality projects to the owners.
