Recently, the Shanghai Lingang Marine Ecological Restoration (Second Section) Project of CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Jinshan Qianjing Middle School affiliated with Shanghai Normal University, launched the "Ten Thousand Engineers in the Classroom" activity. The theme of the event is "Protecting the Marine Ecology and Building a Beautiful Home Together". The engineers gave a vivid and interesting oyster reef science popularization class, which lit up the students' environmental awareness of protecting the blue ocean and sowed the seeds of building a dream future and building a maritime power in their hearts.

At the event, engineers introduced the ecological functions of oysters, the design principles of oyster reefs, and their role in marine ecological protection to students in vivid and lively language under the theme of "Little Oysters Guarding Marine Ecology". During the explanation, marine life animations and solid models of oyster reefs were interspersed to help students intuitively understand how oyster reefs, as "ocean engineers," purify water quality, counteract storms, and provide habitats for fish, shrimp, and crabs.

In the second half of the course, through the demonstration of the dynamic model of oyster reefs and the structural diagram of marine organisms, the complex construction process of marine ecological protection becomes clear and easy to understand. Students gradually understand how to build a "housing project" for marine organisms by laying stone foundations, lifting reef units, and releasing oyster seedlings. In the interactive experience session, students personally experienced the technological charm of marine ecological restoration by touching oyster reef models and observing oyster attached specimens. Engineers also cleverly integrate knowledge of ocean conservation to help students establish the concept of "harmonious coexistence between humans and nature".

This event is an innovative practice of the "Ten Thousand Engineers in the Classroom" series of activities, which uses an entertaining and educational approach to allow students to have a close understanding of the ecological value of marine restoration engineering and stimulate their interest in marine technology and ecological protection. The project team stated that they will actively organize and carry out the "Engineering into Campus" activity, allowing more young people to "see ecological engineering, touch ocean technology, and feel the responsibility of protection".

It is reported that the Shanghai Lingang Marine Ecological Restoration Project is the first large-scale marine ecological protection and restoration project in Shanghai during the 14th Five Year Plan period. Through measures such as the control of invasive alien species Spartina alterniflora, the construction of oyster reefs, vegetation restoration, and the construction of ecological seawalls, it has significantly improved the erosion prevention ability and biodiversity protection efficiency of low shoals. The project team actively fulfills its social responsibility while promoting ecological engineering construction, and has carried out multiple ocean science popularization and public welfare activities to help enhance young people's awareness of ocean protection and promote the concept of ecological civilization deeply rooted in people's hearts.
